Nashik Kala Masala is an aromatic blend of spices originating from the city of Nashik in Maharashtra. Its name comes from its blackish-brown colour, and its flavour is strong, pungent and smoky. The spices used in this blend are roasted in oil until they turn blackish-brown, but not burnt, resulting in its unique smoky taste.
